David Anthony, MD, MSc
Biography
Dr. Anthony is Director of Medical Student Education and Associate Professor of Family Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School.
He has worked in academic Family Medicine his entire career. After training at Brown University’s residency and completing an Academic Family Medicine Fellowship at Boston University, he has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Family Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. There, he has served as Director of Medical Student Education since 2010. In this capacity, he serves as the Clerkship Director, oversees the Family Medicine electives, and directs the recruitment and faculty development of community family physician faculty.
At a national level, Dr. Anthony serves as an Associate Editor for the fmCASES, and he is the director of the Medical Student Educators Development Institute. In addition to his educational scholarship, he also worked from its outset on the Project RED Trial of transitional postdischarge services to prevent rehospitalization and adverse events. He has received numerous teaching and academic awards, including being a co-winner of the 2010 STFM Research Paper of the Year Award.
